The Big Blue and School

So a few days ago Devin and I went to the ocean, my friends all cancelled on me, but we both had a great time. I taught him "sorta" how to boogy-board, because I think it's a blast. But he did not do to well, he liked to use the board the wrong way and go against the wave... good thing he did not break my board. We then sat in one of those mini-pools caused by the waves going out, because the water was warm there. And we tried burying eachother in the sand, and eventually we got into a mud fight which adults seem to frown upon. :] By the time I changed out of my batheing suit to leave, I had about a pound of sand in my bikini bottoms and top. Not fun.

We left to go to a concert that had The Wallflowers playing. I bought their t-shirt with the help of Devin (he's the sweetest). Most people know them as the band that sings the immensly famous song One Headlight, which came out in the 90s. The lead singer is the son of Bob Dylan, I guess? It went well.

I recieved my schedule for school in the mail. I have ten days till school starts, wow that's scary. I have a lot to do. For the first semester I have AP Calculus, US History II, College Prep English, and Honors Physics. The first semester is going to be rough. I have to buy my binders for my classes still and stuff. I cannot believe I only have one year left. Scary. I am afraid to grow up. I wish I could be Peter Pan.

  1. It sucks that all your other friends canceled but good that you and Devin had a blast =p

Do be afraid to grow up! i was worried when high school ended, but college is 100000x better! I can't even imagine wanting to go back to high school now that i'm here. It's hard to describe but it's awesome.

They're many people who are against public health care for legitimate reasons, reasons that I agree with. But may i ask who did the random poll and what the demographics were like? If it's one thing i've learned from my job it's to NEVER trust a random poll, because it's highly likely that they aren't that random at all (because i make said random polls lol)
And generally speaking, the people who show up to town hall meeting are the special interest groups, and the radical opposition, so town hall meeting aren't a good gauge of what the 'people' want either.
And in this day in age with ‘grass roots’ organizations such as FreedomWorks, and with guides given the public from commentators like Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reily a lot of the things that are being said at these meeting are scripted, so it isn’t a reflection of what people want at all. In fact because of this fake grass roots movement FOX and other sponsors of the like have lost over a dozen advertisers. That’s bad.
The best way to tell what the country wants as a whole is normally outside groups who don't care either way so like BBC and the Gallup.
According to the latest Gallup Poll, 71% of Americans want health care, but vary on the timeframe in which it should be past (and this is where the bulk of most American concern lay) while only 24% don’t want it at all—mainly because they believe that ‘public health care ‘ means single payer, which it doesn’t. For now at any rate. The BBC America gives similar numbers I believe.
Basically I'm pro health care because the health care system in Canada, which is universal saved my life even though I had insurance that was s'pose to fully cover me here in the US. And sadly because of new laws, I was only able to get the help I needed over there because I have a student visa in Canada . If we had the same system over here in America, I wouldn’t have to worry about pre existing conditions and get the help and coverage I needed without having to go through red tape.
I just wished that the Obama team didn't try to bull rush the idea through like the Clinton’s had because now it's full of holes and it's splitting their party a part which isn't good. However, This doesn’t make the idea of the public option less appealing to me as a progressive independent liberal because I’ve dealt with the alterative and never wish for anyone else who is less fortunate than I to go through that again.

Oh and here’s the link to the Gallup poll I was referring to: http://www.gallup.com/poll/121883/Most-U.S.-Want-Healthcare-Reform-Vary-Urgency.aspx
Oh and I checked out that percentage you gave me. The only sites I were able to find that support the 39% were News Max and American Specter, which are right wing political sites run by the special interest and far right conservatives. I’m quick to doubt there numbers just like I’m quick to doubt the numbers at Think-Progress and the Huffington post unless there source is published.

  2. Uck, school starting for me as well. My first semester is going to be so tough, because all my classes are first semester, and then I have one course, one elective, and then co-op for second semester, so that'll be a breeze. I'm so scared for University prep.. I think I may flunk or have a heart attack. I hope you do well. Glad you had a good day at the beach and concert.

    Btw, it's been forever.
